Ahead & Onward!
Readers and Friends,
A few short weeks ago, I was thrilled and excited to finally release the first novel of my Dark Fantasy Detective Mystery series, Saga of the Freewilds. Stormsend is finally available to purchase on Amazon.com in Paperback, Hardcover, and Kindle eBook formats, with the audiobook edition currently under production and planned for release on May 31st.
My focus since Stormsend launched on March 31st has been on getting its sequel ready to share with the world, and I am proud to say that I have achieved just that! VAGABOND - Saga of the Freewilds, Book Two, is currently available in a Special Preview Edition, featuring the Prologue and Chapters 1 & 2, for the low low cost of absolutely free!
If you read the preview and decide you can't wait until the book's official release this June, you can get it today for free, as well, by becoming an Advanced Review Copy reader! All I ask is that you provide the book an honest assessment and review after you read it. It needn't be a long one, but something to express to other folks out there whether you liked it and think it would be worth their time to pick up once it releases on June 30th, 2022.
I have other things in the works, as well, to announce. I have been working on a novella with the working title: A Trial of Ash & Embers. It goes into greater depth about the events and characters involved in the prologue of Stormsend, wherein an Ilrasi aelfen oligarch has bidden the hedge knight, Ser Thamus Ramelle, to find and return their wayward daughter from the savage and untamed Freewilds before her rebellious flight from home leads her to run afoul of the very monsters she claims to be innocent and misunderstood.
Not only will this novella expand upon the lore and characters from a region of the world only mentioned from a distance in Stormsend and Vagabond, the Aelfen Dominion of Sud Ilras, but it will also tie directly into future installments of the Saga of the Freewilds as the story continues to grow and expand after the third novel in the series, Bastion (releasing this September). My earnest plan is to have the novella ready to publish by Christmas. I have other ambitions of the kind, as well, including projects that lie outside the scope of the Freewilds novels. One of these projects is a self-help/memoir non-fiction book called Escaping the Gray: Hindsight & 2020.
Another is a yet untitled space opera sci-fi that pulls influence from some of my favorite works of literary fiction while blending elements from my 80's-kid upbringing and the films, shows, and popular themes of the era. I have less to share about those projects for the moment, but in addition to the continuing, regular release of Saga of the Freewilds novels into 2023, look for these other projects to develop and see official launch dates in the months to come. Finally, I am hoping to begin expanding my website, Freewilds.net, to include a wiki-style feature that will enable interested readers to learn more about the world and its history, nations and cultures, characters and other aspects. This is going to be a longer-term work in progress, but I am considering releasing content in sporadic intervals throughout the rest of 2022.
Times like these make me smile widest and appreciate you good people all the more.

Natalie McMasters is twenty, short and blonde (OK, it’s bleached!), way cute, and a pre-law student at State.
She's also straight, or at least she thinks so. To put herself through school, she's moonlighting as a private detective trainee at her uncle Amos Murdoch's 3M Detective Agency, where the most exciting thing she does is sit in a car. After she directly confronts a subject on a stakeout, Amos fires her for taking too many chances. Then she meets another student who bears an uncanny resemblance to her, and everything in her life changes.
When her new best friend is brutally murdered and Amos is critically injured, Nattie immerses herself in the seamy world of web cams and strip clubs to hunt the killer. Her investigation forces her to reassess many of the ideas that she’s lived by her whole life and do things she’s never considered before – strip on a stage, question her sexuality, and rediscover the meaning of love itself.
Nattie eventually exposes a drug ring, police corruption, and an assassin-for-hire online.
Then she stumbles upon the true face of evil, and her encounter does not leave her unscathed…
